To create the sculpture, first we take a 3-d mould. This is done by placing the child’s foot or hand in alginate, a soft setting solution used widely by dental surgeries. It doesn’t matter if your child wriggles and they don’t have to be asleep, it only takes a few minutes. We then use the mold to create a final sculpture in plaster. These can be finished as stand-alone polished plaster sculptures or in bronze or aluminium resin, solid bronze or solid silver, or framed as a pair using a number of framing options. We hand engrave all sculptures with words of your choice such as your child’s name and age. Casts can be taken from a child as young as four-weeks old. See our price list for 3D casting |
